Bavo was recommended to me by a friend and I have now been quite a few times. I keep going back because the food is just so good and the staff are always very friendly and attentive (without being imposing)
The charcoal lamb served on a skewer with rice and vegetables is excellent and the portion size is more than generous. Ask for the homemade chilli sauce which adds a sight kick to the meal. The prices are very reasonable and it' shocking to think you can still eat this well in London.
It is not exactly centrally located but even if you are not familiar with the area it's worth the trip. You will definately not be disappointed with food, price or service at Bavo. -

Would you believe, I used to live a bees dick from this restaurant and never tried it out mainly because I thought it was a standard run of the mill Italian restaurant (not a massive fan of eating out Italian- unless it's really good! sorry!)
Well finally tried it & it is really good!
The menu is actually Mediterranean/ Sicilian - so lots of gorgeous grilled meats/ kebabs etc.
Nice quiet place, music on in the background, satisfactory wine list & pleasant staff.
I defo recommended if u like grilled meats/ seafood. -

Bavo has won an award for the best Turkish restaurant in London and deserved every vote. For once a middle-eastern restaurant that is not decorated with heavy carpets and brass and incense - instead a light, modern interior in woods and avocado that feels fresh and inviting.
The fish selection is incredible and superbly prepared and the charcoal grill special is well worth a try with a variety of meat kebabs served all together.
This is worth any amount of travelling very good food, a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service makes it an all-round winner. -

The waiter quickly brought over warm flatbread and olives as soon as we were seated, which was a nice touch. We ordered the sea salad (squid and prawns over salad) and the mixed grill (lamb kebab, chicken kebab, lamb chop and quail). Nothing spectacular about the food here, but it's solid and all tastes fresh, though the sea salad came with a couple of fried flat dough things that were overly greasy. We didn't go for the special three course meal for 12.95 as we weren't that hungry, but that seems like a pretty good deal if you're able to fit in that much food. Not destination dining by any means but I'm happy it's in the neighborhood.
